When it comes to wire it is all a matter of copper recovery.
Insulated wire is big business to scrap yards so make sure you collect yours the right way...

House wire (romex)

#1 light insulation (single strand wire)

Comunication (cat 5)

Cords (power cords)

Xmass lights, wirng harnesses, etc

Many people burn or strip wire with low copper recovery and are losing money.

Let me put it another way

If you have 10 pounds of  cords (about  40 percent recovery)
We will pay you about $ 12.00 (just the way it is)
If you strip that 10 pounds we will pay you about $ 11.10 for the copper
and you did all the work and you have 6 pounds of worthless insulation to throw out.

So strip the big stuff and take the small wire in AS-IS

Stripping wire

Do not strip thin wire for the copper "you are losing money"

I'll get into it later
